Notes:
Building sets 9785 and 9786 were identical, except 9785 had a (traditional) serial-interface tower, and 9786 had a USB tower.
They had at least two release waves. Sets released originally in 2002 had colored gears, the large plates in red, and the original geared motor (71427). Sets released 2005 and later had replaced all the colored gears with medium stone grey gears, the large plates were now dark stone grey, and the original geared motor had been retired for its lighter replacement (43362).
It could also be argued there was a third wave between those two, when the grey elements were replaced with medium stone grey (2003-2004).
